I could have spent all day at the Palace and another exploring the array of very high quality shops in the lovely winding streets. The cathedral is worth a visit for those interested in architecture, history, etc. or who just appreciate the remarkable efforts humans put into their religious monuments. It is an active religious site, so proper dress and respectful behavior are requested. A stroll along the canal was very pleasant. I did not have enough time to do any of it justice. I walked everywhere. Ask hotel staff which way to go to the palace: GPS doesn't know there is only one entrance and will take you to the outside wall only, FAR from the entrance.

Perpignan is a lively place, cleaner and neater than some other southern French cities. The historical sites are not particularly thrilling, but it's pleasant to wander around the old town and there is always something going on - the annual festival of photojournalism while we were there. The beach resorts of Canet and Sainte-Marie are within easy reach.
Recommended excursions: Céret, Collioure (each a cheap 40-min bus ride away if you can figure out the eccentric timetable) + the Red Train along the Fenouillèdes valley west of Perpignan - with very knowledgeable guides! Details from Tourist Office

Like many visitors to the town, we were drawn to the town by the chance to watch the Catalans Dragons rugby league club play at Stade Gilbert Brutus. However, there is so much more that the town has to offer travellers.
The town centre is crammed with beautiful architecture, quirky shops, bars and cafes and lots of history. Meanwhile, for just a euro you can catch a forty minute bus down to the coast (we chose Collioure). A brilliant trip whether visiting with family or friends. We will definitely be back soon.

Historical castle with old town.
Historical castle with old town. Quiet provincial French town with an interesting looking medieval heart that is undergoing restoration.
We walked around Perpignan, well signposted. The locals are friendly and helpful. We ate at a restaurant close to the train station the food was tasty and reasonably priced. The Pizza place close to town was a bit more expensive but food was tasty and staff helpful. The dinner at The Steakhouse was food but quite expensive again the staff were helpful and friendly.
The apartment was well equipped and had a beautiful view from all rooms, especially from the balcony. The host, Patricia, could not have been more helpful or accessible. Every request (by text) was answered quickly and she helped to insure we had a great vacation. It is the central location to all that Perpignan has to offer with bus stops within a few meters of the apartment and the train station within 15-20 minute walk or 5 minutes by bus. The neighborhood had many stores, restaurants, bars and tourist sites within view!
The room was really big and the bathroom was also big, lovely shower.
The young gentleman that was at reception was very helpful, and he spoke really good English, he told us restaurants to go to but we were so tired from traveling he offered us a simple meal from the hotel which he delivered to our room, and it was really good.
The breakfast next morning was the best we had from our 11 days traveling through France where we stayed in 10 different hotels. We would definitely stay here again if traveling in that area.
Easy walking distance between the station, hotel and the centre of Perpignan made this hotel perfect for travelling via train to explore on foot. Corinne was so helpful and attentive upon our arrival, and even managed to provide us an early check-in! We were also lucky enough to receive and upgrade and Corinne provided a map of Perpignan and some good local recommendations. Fantastic!
The location of this small hotel is excellent - it's very centrally located in the old town, with close proximity to lots of restaurants and bars. The hotel is located off the main road, which we found to be very quiet. Breakfast was good and more than ample for the small additional cost. All in all a great one-night stay. We loved Perpignan and a place we'll definitely re-visit.
The hotel may be getting a little long in the tooth, but the recent renovations make it fit for some time yet... the paint smell was gone in a minute or two of the French doors being opened onto the balcony (with tree-top views and still snow covered Pyrenees in the distance). Bathroom was new, modern and clean... a very nice shower. Breakfast was great.
I arrived extremely late into Perpignan (3am) due to a bus fiasco. Being a woman travelling alone this was rather stressful. The staff at the hotel were fantastic and ensure a 24hr check-in so was was assured of being able to get to my much needed room and plus with a warm caring welcome. It was really appreciated not to have felt alone!
Perfectly located near the city center. Very friendly personnel, clean room (bathroom was a bit smelly, but ok). Parking space right in front of the hotel (free in weekends), which was super handy. All in all a great stay!
For a budget hotel a really pleasant surprise, clean, really comfy bed. Room with a small garden was great for the dogs. But best of all a great team of staff, multilingual and helpful.
Very authentic French environment. Why would you go to France and want English?! Reception staff so helpful. Restaurant wonderful, we had a gorgeous meal… 3 times now.
A nice hotel not far from the airport, city centre, breakfast was good nothing too fancy but did the trick, was there for the Rugby it was near everything I needed.
Good value for money. The location isn't great to visit Perpignan but it was good for us who were going just outside the city. Overall clean and with a great staff.
The rooms are always small at these hotels, but when traveling I don't care because I have always gotten an impeccable clean room and a comfortable bed.
